Shermaine is a registered Counselling Psychologist and approved supervisor with the Singapore Register of Psychologists (SRP). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Applied Psychology (Counselling Psychology) from Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). Since 2014, Shermaine has garnered diverse expertise in primary healthcare, community and education settings namely, at the National University Polyclinics, Community Psychology Hub - Family Service Centres, and SPD Early Intervention Centre. Deeply valuing the trust that clients place in therapeutic relationships, she acknowledges it as a privilege to support clients through various seasons of life.

Providing individual psychotherapy to adults and seniors facing various mental health challenges is central to Shermaine’s clinical practice experience. These conditions include (but are not limited to) anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, and adjustment to life changes such as unemployment, illness, caregiving stress, and grief. Recognising that these life challenges are often minimised or dismissed, she advocates for mental health in her own capacity within her professional settings—through initiatives like delivering the talk “Balancing Bytes and Zen: Navigating Digital Wellness”, designing team-building resources, and educating healthcare professionals in early stress detection and self-care.

Shermaine is committed to creating a safe and compassionate space where clients feel seen and heard. With her calming presence and attunement to each moment, she provides unwavering support as clients explore their innermost thoughts and emotions, move toward acceptance and reconnect with a renewed sense of purpose.

She empowers individuals to take ownership of their therapy journey and make meaningful changes aligned with their personal values— fostering greater authenticity and fulfilment in life. Understanding that no two journeys are the same, Shermaine works collaboratively with each client to develop a tailored intervention plan that reflects their unique needs, drawing on therapeutic approaches that support their personal growth. Her practice primarily includes Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), whilst incorporating Mindfulness techniques and elements of Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Schema Therapy.

In addition to therapy, Shermaine has conducted psychological assessments across age groups, including early intervention and primary school recommendations using tools like the WISC-V, WIAT-III, WNV, and Vineland-II. Through her postgraduate training and work at the Community Psychology Hub, she gained proficiency in adult assessments (e.g., WAIS-IV, MMPI) and conducted custody evaluations for the Family Justice Courts and Syariah Court of Singapore.

Outside of work, Shermaine is a new pawrent to a 4-month-old mini goldendoodle. She looks forward to taking her furbaby on nature hikes in the future.

Shermaine provides therapy primarily in English, and is able to support Mandarin-speaking clients at a conversational level.
