Dear Parents,

Following the announcement of stricter measures for COVID-19 in Singapore, our clinicians will be prioritising patients with unstable and life-threatening presentations. We have moved all of non-essential psychological services onto our telehealth platform.

While the work that our Educational Psychologists can do with your child in a virtual setting is limited, there are innumerable (many, many, in fact) things that we, as parents and psychologists, can do to support your child during this lengthy stay home period. Care should and must continue to be provided to your child.

Proposed Plan for the next 1 Month

To minimise disruptions to your child's therapy and progress, we have made modifications to allow consultations or therapy to continue via telehealth.

During this interim period, interventions will focus on teaching parents strategies in implementable, bite-sized chunks. These strategies will focus on imparting to you interim coping strategies in the form of mini-tasks and goals you can do with your child, parenting skills, advice on managing your child’s behaviours, and strengthening the parent-child relationship. Our plan will also teach you the necessary skills for positive behaviour management and child development, and help you care for your children by forging strong relationships.

If observation sessions are required, we may ask that you place your mobile device in a spot in your home where we can observe your child’s ordinary interactions. Our Educational Psychologists can make detailed observations and arrange for private discussions with you, and share knowledge of child development. This helps parents with implementing effective strategies to help your child at home. Home is an important setting for effective intervention to take place.

How does telehealth work?

All you need is a laptop or mobile device with a webcam, mic, and a reliable internet connection. Click here to find out more about our telehealth requirements.

Our Educational Psychologist will arrange for a suitable time and you can call into the virtual room (which you can view here) at the scheduled time. We will continue to support you and your child during this stay home period.
