Parent Support Group

Caring for a child can feel like a rollercoaster journey, with great days and some not-so-great ones. It’s time for caregivers to care for themselves! How? Connect with others who are going through similar experiences, and also learn important techniques for you to care for yourselves as well.

Taking place on Mondays from 22 August 2022 onwards, this support group is for caregivers of children with special educational needs. The goal is for caregivers to have a safe, nonjudgmental space for self-discovery, and to empower you with techniques to support your own mental health and relieve the psychological and physical stress you may be feeling constantly.

2022 Social Group - Speech & Language Therapy

Social skills groups offer an opportunity for children who lack social skills to practice these social skills with peers. Through evidence-based methods, your child will learn to engage, regulate and respond to social interactions with each other.

Our Speech and Language Therapist, Elysia, will identify individualised objectives for each child participating, develop specialised strategies to target specific communication, emotional regulation, engagement, and social interactions behaviour during group activities. The child’s progress is rated on each objective every session.

Surviving the Festive Season: A Support Group

New year is a time of celebration and festivities with loved ones. During this time, we may also face unwanted questions from relatives or grapple with feelings of loneliness. For those feeling disappointed, angry, and anxious of meeting others, know that these feelings are real and valid.

But you are not alone. Having a support group and going through this difficult situation with others can help to alleviate some of the distress you are experiencing.

In this 2 day support group, participants will meet our psychologists and other individuals experiencing similar challenges in a campfire style discussion, and share and learn new skills to cope with difficult family interactions and loneliness during the festive season.

Conducted by: Julia, Celine, and Wei Ying
